AEG: Celebrating a 125 year long tradition of a brand

Style is never an accident. A hundred years ago, AEG were the first electrical company to hire an industrial designer, Peter Behrens, the father of the Bauhaus design movement. His work for AEG was the first large scale demonstration of the viability of designing functional yet aesthetically pleasing products. “Good design doesn’t just make things easy on the eye, but easier for you to use”. This has remained the AEG distinctive character and target for the last 125 years.

The growth of AEG “Allgemeine Elektricitäts – Gesellschaft” starts from here. It was soon to become the most important German utility company for the distribution of electrical energy.
During the following years, the company was subject to incredible and dynamic development, committing itself continuously in search of innovative and technological performance of its products. All of that resulted in its business expansion towards the production of any kind of electrical equipment, especially focusing on simplifying the household duties in the early days: in 1910 it presented the company’s first electric oven, and in 1912 the first AEG freezer,…

1889: Michael von Dolivo-Dobrowolsky, AEG Chief Engineer, invented the three-phase induction motor for industrial applications. Right from the very beginning the company’s range of electric motors were sold with great success all over the world and AEG soon became a synonym of excellence in the production of industrial electric motors.

1998: the cooperation between Lafert and AEG began, it has continued since then and is still on-going today. Worldwide it represents the most evolved technology available on the market in the sector of High Efficiency and High Performance Electric Motors.

AEG today: 125 years perfekt in form and funktion. Celebrating the past, assuring the present and with vision of a future of leading design and innovative thinking.
