The Lafert Group development project in the Pfaudler area: new jobs, a state-of-the-art R&D centre, a technical and vocational school and new services for employees

The agreement between Lafert Group and Pfaudler S.r.l. has been formalized, which opens negotiations for the acquisition of the former Pfaudler production area in J.F. Kennedy Road in San Donà di Piave. The plan is to have the agreement settled by the end of September.

Sumitomo Heavy Industries (SHI) supports the growth and expansion of Lafert encouraging our desire to settle more and more in the San Donà area. The new acquisition of the Pfaudler area is part of the long-term plan and a huge investment for Sumitomo Drive Technologies, the Power Transmission Control (PTC) division of SHI. This investment is in addition to the €19 million already planned for 2022 to increase Lafert's production capacity, R&D department and sales network. Among the investments already supported, the construction of a new automated production plant aligned with Industry 4.0 is a fundamental project which will be located next to the headquarters in Via Kennedy.

With the acquisition of the Pfaudler area, Lafert will become the new strategic hub for the development of integrated products for EMEIA PTC Division.

New jobs and greater focus on employees

In these first years of synergy between PTC companies in EMEIA, the growth of market demand and the expansion of the product portfolio with the integrated packages requires Lafert to increase its production capacity. Therefore, new plants dedicated to production and storage will be created leading to a significant increase in jobs.

The area in question is 67,783 m². The buildings currently present will be demolished to make room for new production areas and a series of services intended for the well-being of Lafert employees and the community in San Donà. The building will be a maximum of 33,891 m².
The long-term project focuses on creating areas to increase the services dedicated to Lafert employees including the expansion of the company canteen, the creation of adequate parking spaces with electric vehicle charging stations, and a series of additional company benefits still under discussion.

Lafert becomes the strategic center for the development of integrated products and cutting-edge technologies

After the success achieved in these first years of synergy, we have decided to further support technological innovation: the Pfaudler area will host the new PTC EMEIA Research and Development center, dedicated to the development of the most advanced products in the market, including integrated products thanks to the synergies between the companies in the Group.

We have always focused on innovation and the development of cutting-edge technologies to provide products with very high efficiency and superior performance. The development project at J.F. Kennedy Road and the number of investments planned demonstrate the further push towards innovation by SHI, the willingness to work as a team among the PTC group of companies in EMEIA and the attention to the needs of the market, customers, and the future.

Lafert committed to the community

We want to help improve the quality of life not only of our employees but for our community. The most important novelty of the plan is to create a technical and professional training center that can be a place of growth and development of skills for young people in the area. The project, among other things, will create new green areas and is linked to the urban development plan, in which Lafert is already involved, to renovate J.F. Kennedy Road. The costliest part will be the construction of the underground service network that will not be visible immediately although it is fundamental for future maintenance of the area.

Thanks

We thank the Municipality of San Donà di Piave, the Mayor Andrea Cereser and the Technical Office for the critical support given during the transaction and for the commitment shown in solving the environmental and road issues in the area.

Pfaudler

Pfaudler Srl, an Italian company inside the GMM Pfaudler Group, has recently moved its Italian production plant from San Donà di Piave to Torre di Mosto (just few km away) in order to consolidate the Group's activities in Italy and its core business in the production of corrosion-resistant equipment (reactors and tanks for the chemical and pharmaceutical industry). From a strategic point of view, the new plant responds to the need for modernization and increased efficiency in the production area, in line with the growth and environmental sustainability targets of the GMM Pfaudler Group.
