We are building the first photovoltaic plant planned for 2022 which will produce 380,000 kWh

A plant for the new facility in San Donà

The installation of the large photovoltaic system is underway on the roof of the new production plant in San Donà di Piave, built next to the historic headquarters.

Samso S.p.A., an Energy Service Company (E.S.Co.), designed and built the plant consisting of 762 high-efficiency 455 kWp monocrystalline silicon modules generating 345 kW of power. The plant will almost completely cover the 6,000 square meter surface of the dome roof on the new building.

When fully operational, the photovoltaic system will be able to produce about 380,000 kWh of renewable energy annually, corresponding to the total energy needs of the plant. From an environmental sustainability point of view, it reduces CO2 emissions by 154 tons per year, equivalent to planting 1100 trees in the area.

In 2021 we decided to increase the Group's production capacity by making investments that align with Industry 4.0. We want it to be an innovative but also sustainable plant, and the photovoltaic system will be fundamental in limiting the consumption of energy from non-renewable sources.

The second plant planned for 2022

A second agreement was also signed with Samso S.p.A., for the installation of a photovoltaic system in the manufacturing plant in Noventa di Piave. The system consisting of 500 modules will be able to produce 226,800 kWh of renewable energy annually, reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by an additional 92 tons per year, equivalent to planting 656 trees. The installation will be completed by the end of 2022 and represents a further fundamental step towards greater sustainability.

"The two photovoltaic systems will be fundamental in making the plants of San Donà and Noventa more autonomous and sustainable. All the renewable energy produced will be used in self-consumption for air conditioning, office lighting and to power industrial machinery, while the surplus will be fed into the network. These investments are part of a broader action plan that will implement numerous activities targeted at reducing the Group's environmental impact." – Paolo Francescato, Health & Safety and Facilities Manager.

Building a long-term sustainable vision

For us, environmental sustainability is embodied in the development of products with cutting-edge performance that guarantee very high efficiency, contribute to the energy savings of our customers and support our planet. It also means reduction and complete recycling of waste, efficiency of production processes and of our plants. Once both plants, San Donà di Piave and Noventa di Piave, have been completed, we will be able to produce a total of 606,800 kWh of clean and renewable energy, reducing CO2 emissions by 246 tons per year.

There are19 million € in investments planned for 2022, in addition to the installation of photovoltaic panels, additional funds are allocated towards sustainability, including the renewal of the company car fleet with electric vehicles and the reorganization of waste to eliminate mixed waste. These activities are just a starting point to make Lafert an increasingly modern company that respects both the environment and people.
