Lafert Group is expanding its headquarters in San Donà di Piave by an additional 5,000 m2 to improve the logistics of its production lines.
“The investment is part of a larger project that was launched last year,” said Operations Manager Tiziano Tedesco. “In that time we have hired around one hundred new people we now work in somewhat confined spaces. We are taking the opportunity also to rethink the layout of some production lines.”
According to the Operations Manager, “Work is due to start in March and will concentrate on the new assembly lines, the shipping area, the mechanics department and the test lab. The lab, in particular, will expand into a 200 m2 area, enabling us to install new test benches.”
“The new layout is designed to streamline the flow of components and – said Mr. Tedesco – optimise warehousing around the receiving, shipping and precision parts areas. The new arrangement will therefore increase efficiency of the loading, unloading, picking and sorting operations, whilst streamlining the warehousing in all departments.”
“The space recovered through a more efficient use of areas will enable us to rearrange the production of components and optimise the flow and management of materials within each. This will help reduce transit times with a view of improving our Delivery Performance” said the Operations Manager.
