The Lafert range of Brushless Servo Motors now available with ATEX certification for Zone 2 and 22.
TÜV has certified that our Brushless Motors comply with ATEX directive 94/9/EC (Explosive Atmospheres), which regulates the installation of protective systems and devices in potentially explosive environments, i.e. where there may be potentially explosive substances such as gases or dust, to the extent of 10 hours of presence in a year or max 5 mm of accumulated dust.
In accordance with international standards EN 60079-0:2012, EN 60079-15:2010 and EN 60079-31:2014, the new ATEX certification covers our whole range of Brushless Motors, including our Torque Motors. It also means that 3G (gases) and 3D (dust) product categories (Zone 2 and 22) now have the IP65 class rating:
- II 3G Ex nA IIC T155°C (T3) Gc
- II 3D Ex tc IIIC T135°C Dc
The ATEX-compliant motors retain the mechanical, dimensional and coupling features of our standard range, but have different performance characteristics with restrictions on stall and nominal torque values.
Along with the policy to broaden its range of applications, Lafert is focussing on the increasing diverse demands from the market, particularly from the robotics sector which is seeing growing interest from the chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and plastics industries. These areas can often involve solvents and fine dust which are typical application areas covered by the ATEX certification (zone 2 and 22).
The ATEX range will be officially presented as a world preview from November 24 to 26 at SPS Fair in Nuremberg, Germany.
