In almost 50 years Lafert has existed as a motor company. For most of the years AC motors has been the core product and today Lafert produce almost 1 million motors pr year. More than 15 years ago Lafert entered into the Servomotor business.
During the last 2 years Lafert has been developing more new products based on Permanent Magnet PM technology with focus on reduced dimensions and IE4* Super-Premium-Efficiency.
Today app 25% of the produced Lafert volume is based on PM technology. It means that the production set-up is optimized for volume production and by that cost optimized.
The new products with interest for the renewable energy business and especially Nacelle manufactures has been introduced in parallel with a strong range of standard and customized AC motors, both in IE2 and IE3 executions.
Lafert has introduced the following ranges of products with PM technology:
HPS (High Performance Standalone PM motors):
The HPS range has been developed as a merger between the Servo motor program and the AC motor program, by that performance and cost has been optimized to standard performance applications such as pumps and fans or more industrialised applications like conveyers, vacuum pumps, compressors etc.
HPI (High Performance PM motors with Integrated inverter):
The HPI range are having the inverter integrated on the HPS PM motor. The integration between the PM motor and the power electronic for the inverter has been developed by Lafert own engineers.
Since an AC motor of a specific size take a certain footprint it has been a target to develop the HPI range to take up the same footprint just with the inverter integrated for the similar kW power size.
Both the HPS and HPI rage cover from 0.55 - 22 kW in four standard IEC frame sizes: 71-90-112-132. Like in the IEC range there are the same possibilities to select standard flanges like B5 or B3 etc.
Lafert offer for volume applications the possibility to mechanically customize the HPS and HPI range for deeper integration into the customer's application.
The Lafert HPS range of PM motors in standard IEC frames offer energy efficiency level IE4*. Since PM technology offers higher power density Lafert has taken advantage of implementing higher power in smaller IEC frames. It means if a 5.5 kW AC motor normally is delivered in a frame 112 (app 34 kg) Lafert realizes the 5.5 kW in a PM motor from the HPS range in a frame 90 (app 16 kg).
