The Transition Plan 5.0 is an opportunity for all companies
The Transition Plan 5.0 is a substantial incentive for the development of Italian companies. Approved by the Council of Ministers on 31 January 2024, the Plan promotes digitalisation and sustainability in the production sector. The beneficiaries of the Transition Plan 5.0 are companies of any size, including micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

With an expected investment of thirteen billion euros for the digital and energy transition of companies, the main objective of the Plan is to reward the reduction of energy consumption through the recognition of significant incentives for Italian companies that invest in innovative technologies. Energy efficiency is the capability that has always characterized Lafert solutions, as well as the ever-increasing optimization of the performance of our motors.

The benefit of investing in energy efficiency
The Plan offers various opportunities for subsidized investment and tax credits, aimed at enhancing energy efficiency, adopting cutting-edge technologies and promoting sustainability. It therefore includes:
Improvement of energy efficiency: investment for the purchase of new capital goods developed to optimize production processes by reducing energy consumption so as to maximize the company's energy efficiency, ensuring more sustainable production and reducing operating costs;
Adoption of innovative technologies: investment in cutting-edge technologies, systems that allow you to improve productivity, optimize processes and remain competitive on the global market;
Promotion of sustainability: investment in solutions that enable the adoption of sustainable production practices. Businesses can benefit from incentives to implement innovative solutions that reduce the environmental impact of their operations.

Lafert solutions for Energy Efficiency
We have developed solutions with performance well beyond regulatory standards, suitable for achieving significant energy savings by integrating with end applications. We develop high-performance and customized electric motors that make energy efficiency and reliability their key features.

Our product portfolio fits perfectly into the framework of the application of the Transition Plan 5.0, offering our customers opportunities for growth and modernization of their plants and machines with a view to increasing energy efficiency.

We are present in the HVAC, renewable energy and industrial machinery market, designing products with very high energy efficiency. With a strong approach to the market, we are a leader in innovative products based on permanent magnet technology and with IE5 Super Premium Efficiency.

Our integrated packages to maximize application efficiency

We work in co-engineering to maximize the efficiency and energy savings of production machines dedicated to all industrial sectors. Thanks to our in-depth know-how, we know how to integrate our solutions, guaranteeing energy savings for the end consumer.

From manufacturing to logistics, our integrated technologies can play a crucial role in optimizing operations and reducing environmental impact. Thanks to our more than 60 years of experience, we now also master control electronics. This allows us to take charge of the integration and implementation of the system. Mastering the parameters of both without sacrificing performance makes it possible to work on the motor and drive to refine their parameters and maximize performance. Innovative technologies such as our motor and drive solutions allow the customer to integrate a super-efficient system using fewer resources than alternatives on the market.

Our experience in energy saving

CASE STUDY - AIR TECHNOLOGY
Among the most modern products, our HP Integral (HPI): a state-of-the-art permanent magnet motor with integrated electronics that achieves IE5 efficiency levels.

It was an Italian company that testified to the potential of our HPI motor compared to an AC motor by inserting it into a vacuum pump of its production. After about a minute and a half from commissioning, during which the energy consumption of an HPI is similar to that of an AC motor, the HPI motor, regulated by the inverter, maintains its consumption stable and therefore lower than the AC motor. Comparing the two motors during a 5-minute cycle, the saving is 36%.

This percentage may be higher when you consider that the motor can be kept running at low speed, or that the motor may also be turned off and on only when necessary. In conclusion, it can be said that the longer the pump is used, the greater the energy savings.

CASE STUDY - MATERIAL HANDLING IN AGRICULTURE

HP Combi (HPC) is our special package that combines the permanent magnet synchronous motor and the variable frequency drive (VFD), achieving the highest standards of efficiency.

Our HPC with IP20 rated VFD, installed on a 24V battery-powered conveyor belt used in agriculture, has allowed a 50% increase in battery life compared to a traditional asynchronous motor. In fact, the battery life has increased from 6 to 9 hours.

Among the advantages highlighted by the customer, there is also the maintenance of the belt speed even with higher load placed on the line thanks to the constant torque guaranteed by the motor.

CASE STUDY - VENTILATION

Our HP Combi (HPC) package, also available with IP66 VFD for decentralized installation, guarantees clear energy savings in variable torque ventilation systems compared to systems with asynchronous motors driven by VFDs.

With our customers in the ventilation industry, we have seen a ROI of about 9-12 months with annual energy savings of about 20% compared to old asynchronous solutions with VFDs. Our IE5 class HPS motor can also be made with a PAD mounting design for installation on axial fans, thus minimizing interference in the airflow and ensuring better aerodynamic performance of the fan.

In addition, thanks to PI/PID regulation with a temperature sensor connected to the VFD, our HPC solution is completely autonomous in the search for the optimal setpoint to achieve maximum system efficiency.

Conclusions
The Transition Plan 5.0 offers a great opportunity for Italian companies to embrace digital innovation and sustainability, and we at Lafert are ready to support this initiative so as to position ourselves at the center of the economic and industrial transformation that aims to build a more sustainable future for all.
