Once again Lafert is in the front row in support of San Donà rugby.
San Donà celebrates a partnership of over 60 years of history with rugby "Lafert San Donà" by inaugurating the first square in Italy dedicated to this engaging sport.
"The square is thanks from the community to a sport that combines emotions, culture, solidarity and volunteering", explained mayor Andrea Cereser, "it means giving due credit to excellence in our city of national importance. It also means recognising the educational role of sport in training better citizens." It is no coincidence that the "Rugby Square" is located near schools in Via Sabbioni to emphasize the link between sport and education in teaching important values to new generations.
As long-term sponsor of rugby San Donà we were also present at the inauguration represented by the Finance Director Cristiana Damele, "We feel deeply connected to this sport”, explains Damele “because we share its values: loyalty, determination, courage, the desire to get involved and get our hands dirty, but above all the team game".
Sculptures
At the ends of the square two sculptures were created by the architect Cristiano Giacomel: a representation of an oval ball and a figure of a young boy with the ball in his hand to symbolize that rugby is a sport accessible to everyone. Both are bordered by a stack of books representing how fundamental sport and education are in training generations of excellent citizens.
A reproduction of the figure has been donated to Lafert as thanks for the support shown over the years.
Lafert's renewed commitment to rugby
It was an opportunity to reconfirm our support for San Donà rugby. For many years we have been sponsors of this sporting event that is an integral part of our company including numerous players among our employees and their families.
"We recognise the values of rugby in the team spirit and determination of our company, and value them when selecting staff", continues Cristiana Damele.
This year Lafert's renewed commitment to San Donà rugby brings two important innovations. We have established a scholarship that will be awarded to deserving youth athletes, who excel in both athletics and academics. A Family-day will also be organised to give rugby boys the opportunity to visit the company and be immersed in the Lafert culture.
